How to get the colors from an image
- Choose a photo, a logo or a screenshot.
- The palette shows the dominant colors, from most to least present, with the percentage of the image each one covers.
- Tap a color to copy its HEX code, or copy the whole palette with one button.
- Paste it into your editor, Canva or your website.
HEX, RGB and HSL
- HEX (#FF5A1F): the most widely used format in design and on the web.
- RGB (255, 90, 31): the amount of red, green and blue, from 0 to 255.
- HSL (16°, 100%, 56%): hue, saturation and lightness. Useful for making lighter or darker variations of the same color.
Example: the orange #FF5A1F is RGB 255, 90, 31 and HSL 16°, 100%, 56%.
If the photo is too heavy to share, you can compress it or change its size.
How the palette is calculated
The image is reduced to a sample and its colors are grouped with the median cut method: the set of colors is split into groups that get more and more alike, and the average of each group is taken. That is why the palette shows representative colors, not necessarily an exact pixel.
