How to resize an image
- Choose the image from your phone or computer, or drag it into the box.
- Enter the width and height in pixels, or tap a social media size.
- If the proportions change, under "Format and fit" you decide whether to crop, fit with borders or stretch. The preview shows you the result.
- Download the image.
Example: a 4000 × 3000 px photo for a vertical Instagram post (1080 × 1350) is cropped from the center to fill the format without distortion.
Recommended sizes for social media
| Use | Size (px) | Ratio |
|---|---|---|
| Instagram square | 1080 × 1080 | 1:1 |
| Instagram portrait | 1080 × 1350 | 4:5 |
| Stories and Reels | 1080 × 1920 | 9:16 |
| YouTube thumbnail | 1280 × 720 | 16:9 |
| Link post (Facebook) | 1200 × 630 | 1,91:1 |
Shrink or enlarge?
Shrinking an image always looks fine: fewer pixels are used than there are. Enlarging it creates pixels that didn't exist, so above the original size the photo looks less sharp. If you need a smaller file, besides shrinking it you can compress it.
