How to convert an image

  1. Choose the image (JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF or BMP).
  2. Tap the format you want to convert it to.
  3. With JPG and WebP you can adjust the quality; lower quality means a smaller file.
  4. Download the converted image.

Most common conversions

  • PNG to JPG: greatly reduces the size of photos and screenshots. You lose transparency.
  • WebP to JPG: to open or upload the image in programs or sites that don't accept WebP.
  • JPG to PNG: useful for editing without losing more quality. The file will be larger.
  • JPG or PNG to WebP: the lightest option for web pages.

If you just want a smaller file without changing the format, use the image compressor.

Frequently asked questions

Is my image uploaded to the internet?

No. The conversion happens in your browser and the image never leaves your device.

Why does the transparent background disappear when converting to JPG?

Because the JPG format doesn't support transparency. Those areas are filled with the color you choose, white by default.

Does converting to PNG improve quality?

No. PNG prevents further quality loss from that point on, but it doesn't recover what the image had already lost.

Can I convert HEIC photos from an iPhone?

It depends on the browser. If it won't open, share it from the iPhone as JPG or turn on "Most Compatible" in Settings > Camera > Formats.
